OMFG. Nearly no living human being is white or black. Many criminals, murderers, rapists had awful childhood and background. A lot worse than Karino. It helps us understand these people, what shaped them BUT it doesn't justify their actions. There is NO EXCUSES. You decide for yourself and you are responsible for your actions. Sorry

Did you understand what I wrote? Yeah he is not black or white. He had sad backstory. Like billions people around him. He should face consequences for his actions. Simple
No one say he is Satan reincarnated. But he RAPIST and it's a fact. Serial rapist.

I've read the story. That's the problem.
![](/images/home/manga-img-anonymous-30.png)
He has some positive sides. But the way you describe him, how you excuse his behaviour. How you all drag Azusa's faults to make Karino better but don't want to see Karino facing REAL consequences. Smh
![](/images/home/manga-img-anonymous-30.png)
You seriously don't see it. You are saying that what he did was wrong... In the sentence you use BUT. You don't even see that you are making excuses for the guy.
![](/images/home/manga-img-anonymous-30.png)
I accept your different opinions. I don't accept you making excuses and that you all can't admit that karino is rapist who should face punishment and you ship rapist with his victim.(in fiction, no one say you do irl).
Not making excuses and degrade Azusa in the process.

When did anyone excuse his behavior? When did we degrade Azusa? I’d like to know what you’re referring to? But besides, Azusa and Karino as far as we’ve seen are ironically good for each other. Both have evolved a lot with the help of the other. If people in fiction would always pay the price for what they did it would be very boring. (+ how come no one talks about the yakuza or people who commit fraud in mangas bc when they kill y’all are quiet).

I wasn't talk to you in that comment, was I?
Seriously? You think relationship with THAT past, several abuse, repeated rape and gang rape.... can be healthy? It's lazy written, half assed, incoherent psychology that doesn't make bigger sense. Imo
There are things that shouldn't be forgiven and they shouldn't move on like nothing happened.
Firstly it's illogical and bad writing. Secondly... How many times will we see the same from rape to love trope? You don't want to se something new, like Azusa taking his revenge? And Karino facing consequences? It's not boring. We never see something like that happens in yaoi. It would be actually really interesting and refreshing.

I agree, these complex characters are what make the story interesting.

No, you weren’t addressing me in particular but the person you were didn’t excuse his behavior either. I didn’t say it was a healthy relationship but as long as the characters are happy and resolved everything I’m fine with it. What I meant when I said they were ironically good for each other, is that the influence they have on one another is good and makes them more complete and functional people. Moving on like nothing happened wouldn’t be idealistic (to put it mildly), is rather have redemption and resolutions.

I've talked with that person before and read their other threads. It wasn't taken out of thin air.
Also many people say that Azusa deserved all of that but they don't think that Karino deserves any real consequences and they make excuses for him.
I don't agree. For me their relationship is not only healthy but also written in lazy, half assed way. Azusa falling for Karino is so cliché and typical... Some things can't be forgiven and shouldn't be shoved under rag. Sorry. Karino should face some consequences. Maybe thanks to them he would change a little bit. Who knows.
Characters are happy as long as author writes that they are happy. It doesn't have to make much sense or be logical and good writting.
They should go separate ways. It would be the best outcome for their "relationship" imo.

May be so. I see where you’re coming from and I don’t necessarily disagree with you, however, Karino did fundamentally change his “wake up call” so to speak was Azusa’s present in his life. Both of them need(ed) each other in order to become actual human beings, now whether they should be in a romantic relationship or not is just a matter of personal preference. (I’m not sure whether there are two people who replied to me anonymously but if they are, the debate with you has been rather pleasant and civilized).
Ogawa Chise likes to create semes with a hidden struggle. Obviously the things Karino did weren’t right (which he’s also fully aware of). It may not be so apparent to everyone but Karino is emotionally damaged which never really seemed to bother him that much but now that he feels like he actually has something to loose it’s getting harder for him. Point is, Karino is a much more complex character than what some people try to depict him as. I understand and respect it if you don’t like a character but he’s definitely not just black or white, none of the characters in caste heaven are.
