There was once a master and a disciple fighting against a demon lord and his lackeys.
The disciple likes the master in a romantic way, while the master is still hung up on his lost love and his duty towards humanity. So he trains the little kid to the max, shows little to no emotion and the little guy thinks he is hated. The expectation and the unrequited feelings pile up in the little guy to become like a festering wound where the demon lord attacks. The lackeys are in cahoots with a few traitors ( idk why they would side with the demons when the demons winning would mean annihilation of humanity. My god that lady wanted demon d so bad, she was willing to betray them??) And they plan to blame everything on the little guy so that the little guy get blamed more and more and then he gets to the dark side and maybe die..and that's the end for himanity.

i believe the demon actually wants the mc’s body to used to revived himself. To do that, he needs to corrupt the mc, to completely submerged him in despair. The MC already has those inner demons from his insecurities, and the demons is making it worst with this plan.
I kinda think that the mc will conquer the demon kings conscience, becoming the demon king himself and then taking his master as a prize (≧∀≦)
I really really hope that happens. Though the whole story gives Scum Villain’s Self Saving System vibes all over.
