Qui yu himself said that in the beginning he was with him out of kindness (I'm thinking it was him simply going with the flow and perhaps accepting the approach since it was his first time) but then later on he started feel uncomfortable with his ex. Truth is, Qui Yu was never invested in the relationship. Whether it was that he wasn't ready, wasn't mature enough, didn't feel enough for his ex, or he was a coward, whatever the reason may be been, the fact is that their relationship wasn't something Qui You have Ould have ever put much effort into.

And I think his ex sensed that. His ex also didn't feel that his partner was very much invested in the relationship, so perhaps that made standing strong against his family's pressure more difficult

I don't feel any pity to the ex at all. fuck this asshole prick! he is the one who decided to give up and marry someone else (use someone else that he does not give a damn) only to toy with the MC and make him suffer. and of course trying to ruin his new relationship and love he finally find is pathetic and disgusting. if he really loved him (the ex) he would have let him go to find his happiness like an adult person.

A part of me feels bad for him because he clearly regrets his choices. But what I don't like about him is that he keeps trying to get in the main couples way when they're clearly happy and he was the one who made the choice to let go first. And it wasn't even the right way to do it - he decided to be an ass and cheated on his significant others. His relationship just wasn't strong enough to withstand the stress from their families and now he's lashing out on the people who cared for him. His current actions are childish and clearly not mature.
