I think its because its fantasy people wanna revel in it. Idk. Personally I don’t like those either it annoys me. But there are some decent manhwas which are kinda decent. And if you think about it in real life, someone with a personality like the mcs in those mangas, they sound like douchebags. I would never in my right mind date a guy like that. They’re like 14yr olds. The male leads I mean.
I COULDNT AGREE MORE. ive come to dislike novels that seemed to have a “strong female lead” at first until the domineering I-am-all-powerful-and-you-will-eventually-for-me-even-though-im-an-asshole male lead comes in (*cue an entire chapter of how handsome, tall, and perfect he is*) and then everything goes downhill from there. most of the time, EVERYONE in the novel seems to really respect or fear him?? and then the FL is just shit on?? i don’t understand the appeal :/// i honestly wonder how these ML even became CEO or whatever in the first place
I feel your disappointment. Most of what I read in this genre, if not all, they start out fine and great. The female lead is the strong character and she’s self sufficient but then all of a sudden after the male lead comes along the plot turns 180 and its shit. The character goes shit. Not saying you can’t be vulnerable and depend on your partner but they just ruin them completely, The female lead. Suddenly she can’t do anything after falling in love and the male lead does everything for her and whatnot
I also hate how the female lead is the only person who hates him? Or something and that makes him fall for her or something? Thats just so annoying

Bu by ch 280 he uses his son to manipulate the grandparents so they will like the female lead, who is already super in love with the male lead, but can't accept a relatioship with him because she had a miscarriage with an unknown man after being drugged by step sister, who was swaped with her at birth in the hospital....and this was a little bit more than a tenth of the lengh of the story! After that I was done!
I mean when a 5 year old manipulates and lies to his mother figure successifully is Game Over for me because either this smart self posessed woman is as dumb as a brick, or the kid is a level 1000 OP character.
oh and he repeatly kisses her while she is asleep! forgot about the sexual abuse

I read these stories and I don't see a "love story" I see a 50 shades of gray, manipulative abusive jerk who controls every aspect in the life of his love interest, who by this point has completely lost any sense of self, she is just a pretty shell to please and appease the ML. It is terrifying.
hey, this is something I really dislike about mangas and manhwas (specially the chinese), and I know it's just cultural diference, but the absolute barrage of times this happens is reaaaally anoying.
It's about how the male lead is usually domineering and unaproachable, manipulating the situation to bring the female lead closer. And then the female lead forgives him every time! It doesn't matter if what he did made things better or worse for her she grumbles a bit and forgives him, Why? because at that point she is absolutely in love with the guy and that means everything he does is ok, doesn't matter if she doesn't like it, doesn't matter if she didn't consent, doesn't even matter if the guy lied to her.
And why is she in love with the guy? Heck if I know! All he did was through his power around like a big hammer, and initially takes the female leads opinion in consideration. And somehow she knows that fleeting half-smile means she is super duper important to him.
you all know the type of story I'm talking about, the ones with the CEO, the emperor with the messy harem, the demon king etc.. with the VERY misleading sumary about a woman who wants to rise to the top on her own 2 feet! (except she turns into a steriotipical tsundere with the mentality of a little girl and never wants to talk it out like a proper adult)
My question is Would you date a guy like that and love him to this extent? Because it doesn't matter how much I like a guy, if I find out he deliberatly lied to me about something important, or manipulated me, I can't trust him. And if I can't trust him how can we have a relationship?
Also WHY IS THIS GENRE SO PREVALENT?? I mean once in a blue moon I find a good one where the female lead gets to have a backbone until the end and stays mature enough to have reasonable fights and discutions with the male lead, but they are super rare.
This might be because I'm already an adult and from a very diferent cuture, but I don't want a guy that will take care of everything for me, I want a guy that trusts me enough to take care of everything with me.
