I don't really think it's that deep?? Lots of parents dream about the gender of their child(￣∇￣") i mean it's not our business if he wants a daughter??? And he clearly loves and raised his sons well so. I don't think u should think of it so sternly.
And it's nice to see people wanting a daughters for Once.

Yea but imagine the reverse... if it was a mother gushing over a newly adopted son saying she'd hoped for a son each time she was pregnant because she wanted someone who resembles her husband... still feels kinda off
like, your child is your child, why would you show favouritism and extra affection just cuz of their gender?? why hope for a specific gender?? lol seems like prevalent discrimination, however minor in its form, to me

would a baby girl be a whole different species than a baby boy? does it make a difference, apart from which one gets pregnant, about what genitaelia the kid has? so what's the basis for wanting a girl or a boy, huh? they're both people at end of day and gender doesn't decide personality
it's cultural bias of gender roles which affects that, so we need to address minor discrimination, even as tiny as this, when they come up to destroy stupid discrimination

Yeah but they didn’t discriminate on the sons or anything like that. They didn’t treat them like crap for not being a girl they raised them properly as their own children. They are probably telling Leslie this just to brighten the mood and let her know that she’s loved. It’s normal to have expectations before giving birth. My English teacher wanted a girl really badly but then she found out it was a boy after buying many dresses and toys and she got really sad, but even so she said she’s gonna raise her son lovingly so I think this family has a similar situation as that

Yeah but addressing tiny things like this will never solve the problem, maybe address it in more serious issues? Like actual real life serious problems relating to actual gender discrimination...?
