I agree with some things you are saying. For example, yes, if people are sensitive to the topic of rape then they should stop reading the manga, no one is forcing them to. HOWEVER, the way you are discussing rape is kinda gross. Rape is serious and shouldn’t be made less serious than it is because “its yaoi, uwu”. You also can’t expect everyone to be able to “take a little rape in a story”, considering you don’t know everyone who’s complaining and what they’ve been through. What you’re trying to say isn’t incorrect but the delivery is insensitive, IMO.

I never said it wasn’t serious but you don’t go to a story, movie, manga, etc. on how to act or who to be. It’s fiction. Fiction meaning not real and made up. Y’all acting like this fiction story is real and that rape being in it is outrageous. It’s fake. no body here said that rape was good or fine. Everyone is simply saying it’s just a story.

I mean it’s just dumb to go screaming about it in the comments weather he actually raped the person or not. Or weather it should be used in a story or not. Then everyone goes on to say rape is bad.
I mean what about all the stories on murder, human trafficking, slaves, Cannibalism etc. they never get the same back lash as rape. So these people are just here to make a scene. Not to have a statement. I mean comment on something like how there were better ways on getting them together or how it had potential but the ruthless rape is just not up my ally. Screaming RAPE. There can be two problems: the manhwa’s portrayal of rape (is it depicted as normal/romantic or as a traumatic/horrible experience) and the perception of the rape by the readers (treated as normal/typical or horrific/bad).
In this case, it’s very likely that the mangaka won’t handle rape properly, but will just write a story about love blossoming from rape. At least it’s not depicted as romantic, but it’s still pretty bad. I take it that many readers have an issue with this fact.
On the second problem, you also see a lot of readers defending the rape or claiming that it isn’t even rape (though that’s less common). The problem is that this normalizes such horrific behaviour, even if it’s fiction. That’s why people scream ‘rape is bad’, because plenty people seemed to think otherwise.
I hate the argument ‘it’s fiction, so we shouldn’t judge this as reality’. Look, unless this is an absurdist piece of Anthony Burgess, a lot manhwa’s here are written in realism. So it represents our reality to some extent, with our morals and values. Even if it’s a historical manhwa, where there truly is an excuse for different morals (example:painter of the night), you’re still very grounded to judge the characters from your own morals, though they may be more justified in their actions.
(Btw kinking out is a totally different situation: if rape fantasy is your kink, then so be it, as long as you realise that it’s just your horny brain talking and those things are in reality actually very bad.)
What I’ve noticed is that people mostly (so not all, of course) complain about these two problems or write a trigger warning, which is very reasonable for a rape scene.
Let’s not forget that other horrific things such as murder, slavery, cannibalism and human trafficking deserve the same amount of attention and face the same two problems (I’ve mentioned above) as rape, but that’s not the issue we’re discussing right now. If you bring up another ‘what about this’ every time someone tries to discuss a topic (that’s what aboutism by the way), you’re never going to get anywhere.
