I think he meant he coulnt feel happiness from khaols lover(kaveri) not khaol himself
hmm perhaps, but I thought of that and I don't think it could be possible because it was mentioned earlier that Kaveri had "lived" so long that he was completely numb, not able to be happy or upset, which is why I figured it had to be khaol's feelings. Plus i think he's aware that kaveri can't feel happy with him, which would make his own pain worse...
also he's the god of pain, so it makes sense that the majority of his feelings are,,, well, pain.

Also River can feel his sisters emotions even tho he cares about her soo akshskksq idk anymore.. this whole "cant feel your emotions when i care about u" power is confusing
He cares about his sister and can feel her emotions so there is either a plothole or his powers will be explained later...maybe his nana will clear it all up?

maybe the ability to read thoughts differs between gods and humans?
Heil can use his telepathy with everyone, even River...he just can't read the thoughts of the people he cares about---that list includes River, Lily + a bunch of other Clandor ancestors.
This chapter answered one question...does River's empathic power work on gods? It does.
Now maybe we can get closer to why it doesn't work on Heil.

If you can't feel what someone you care about is feeling, and he can feel khaol's pain,,,,, does that mean he does't care about khaol anymore?
I don't think he's feeling jealousy or anything bc he wasn't expecting to feel anything and had no problem going there in the first place... I think heilxriver is more likely, and I hope kaveri will do ok and be able to either move on to the afterlife properly or be happy again. Also, as much as I dislike khaol I want him to find peace and move on from his pain.
