she didn't have to do it right away while she knows he was very busy with something else, getting rid of bad evil people.
yeas she could have wait and see after all settle down and see what he will do and then decide what to do. but no, she had to do all this bullshit to make him run after her to feel good about herself. which is bullshit! if she has waited like a normal person until he comes back, he would have confess his love to her anyway and she could ask him to do it in public how she wants it to be. so to sum up her whole game was pointless, selfish and manipulative with no need or good reason.
especially after he told her he does feel things for her, he just didn't have a name for it yet, but since she is so "smart" she should have get what those things mean without him having to spell it out for her.
also her thinking she wants to make him submissive to her like a dog/toy is not a good sign for a healthy relationship.

it's true she could've waited but that also goes back to my point. this grand proposal isn't really from an emotional point but a political point. if she had waited, he would confess and in the end, she'd still be harassed by the horrible things. this was mainly my opinion is all (づ￣ ³￣)づ whether people agree with it does not matter since it is fictional. i just wanted to say that from my point of view (which is different from everyone else), she isn't doing this to be manipulative or to drag him by his feelings but it's to let everyone let them be a couple in peace. no harassment, no judgement, no amusement, and so on... if she were to do this for weeks or months then that's manipulative but considering (what I think to be) it's only been a few days at most, i really believe that it's fine. idk, just my opinion and i wanted to give a response since i understand where you're coming from

also, since i saw this in the comments and I'll just add it here
the fact that she could've gotten more active in social circles is true but that also wouldn't do much. it will only sway so many people. also there some people who will know it's true and still try to be like Susan. The whole thing would repeat over and over. the proposal is to have it acknowledged by the public so that anyone in the social circles can't do anything to adele because the public already knows the duke and adele are an actual couple.
also the comment that Susan and adele are two sides of the same coin might be true but one is doing it for power and fame while the other wants a peaceful life with her husband.

in the end, all I can really think is that if it was me, I don't think I'd have the courage to live a life condemned by others and I don't know if I could put my husband through that kind of shame especially someone as kind as the duke

they won't be harassed, cause it was fucking ONE DAY!!! yeas, in one day I doubt people will try to murder her in his house, and she could have waited on her ass for ONE DAY. so no, your point is not valid.
she should have waited, but she wanted to feel good and make him chase after her like a dog. she even thought that she wanted to turn him into a submissive dog in one of the chapters! you can't say she isn't what she clearly is! that's not how it works.
no it is still manipulative to force a guy to run after her ass to another city and then say she have another man already! that was bs and abuse.
