He wants to get back with the mom so that there will be a taboo again and Heasoo will not be with Jowoon if the mom and dad get back together. That's why Haesoo hasn't slept with Jowoon since season 1 after the dinner scene with Jowoon's dad.

Yes, I was aware of that when I posted my comment. I remembered distinctly Haesoo's mom calling his affair with Joowon "disgusting". I, incorrectly, thought that she was concerned that her son is with a man as well. That's why I called the dad "reasonable". At least he was not being "disgusted" and overdramatic. Saying "way to go" was pure sarcasm, but I forgot sarcasm doesn't translate through text.
