read chapter 36.5 that's the author's note between the seasons. there are no spoilers imo. the author explains her the approach on this manhwa. the main obstacle are their bad personalities.... .
And i think their personalities won't leave room for a twist you mentioned to happen... .

given the fact there is another story from her....which well isn't for everyone.... she probably wanted to do something totally different with this manhwa.

but one warning, some characters look a bit alike, when the sidestory was updatet here, some users confused dojun ( the brother of doyun) with taehan. they acutally look different, but the author sometimes draws them more alike.
