I think that they have seen her like one of the last options... I mean it seems that the situation with king and professional sealers isn't good :D
I think it's because while they see potential, her ways are unusual and she is basically a moron when it comes to maths. So it's like finding a smart child and wanting to teach them to do accounting but they can't do 2+2
Why would the church decide to expel her if they know she has strong magic? Isn’t it much more logical to precisely keep her in school so that she learns how to control her magic properly? Seems really backwards to me, after all, that would mean she can still use magic outside of school without any kind of supervision
