Open relationships exist but those operate with communication. With cheating, there are lies being told and lack of communication, which is a trope many people have grown tired of. Life's already problematic enough, I'd like to consume unhealthy amounts of fluff.
If 2 people were dating and decided it would be okay to fuck other people outside of the relationship, that's good that's on them. However if they didn't clear things up and 1 person decided it would be aight to fuck around without the others consent that would be a big oof.
It's not owning and being owned, it's just respecting each other and the fact that they ain't gonna show affection
for someone else( since usually it's considered an intimate thing)

Second... Have we forgotten why it's wrong to cheat on someone? It's not because we belong to someone else, we are not things, it's because we have an agreement with someone, because we need trust in relationship...
And that "agreement" is different in every relationship...
Judge me, but i think people who expect to own and be owned in relationships are much worse than cheaters.
