yes yes I agree!
the ending is a bit rushed, but i think i can also understand why: this manga focuses on coming-of-age, first love, character development during puberty etc. In my opinion it did an amazing job portraying all those hardships as well as the fluffiness.
To show the whole process that comes afterwards - like going to university, moving out, stabilizing the relationship, first sex, fighting, making up, drifting apart etc. - and then also changing the relationship to Touma from friendship to romance, one would need countless of extra chapters. For each of the topics you could fill a volume or a small manga.
The author had to choose a (or rather: ONE) setting and draw a start-line and a finish-line.
Although I would have loved to read another 100 chapter about the characters, I think the content of the manga is truly great as it is :)

yes, I think you are totally right ! even if the ending wasn't truly satisfactory it was kind of almost inevitable, for what this manga is and what it set out to explore and discuss it did its job perfectly. even if this ending is abrupt or disliked, I'm never going to understand people that think its ruined the rest of the story, in fact I question if any of the content and messages behind the story even registered in their heads if they think that.
I can only hope that someday we'll get something like a spin off comic, or at least the author giving us more art and tidbits on the characters and what we couldn't see.
I know this ending is very polarising for readers, and I too think, its rushed, but somehow I feel satisfied. Like from the bottom of my heart I feel fulfilled, maybe it's stupid to think of these fictional characters in the same way you'd think of a real person, but they look so happy and content and that makes me happy and content. I was shocked and even a little sad that futaba and taichi separated.
Though to me I felt nothing wrong with taichi and touma now being together, it reminds me a lot of how every queer person discovers and adapts to their sexuality differently. My only qualm is that all of this hit us out of nowhere, unlike the usual way this story progresses we didn't get to explore the nuance of these new relationships or get to know how they've ended up here, we simply know this is where they are now.
I wish I could’ve seen more of everyone's lives, futaba and her husband, taichi and touma getting together, I'd have liked to seen it and I think it would have better justified this ending, if these progressions were properly explained to us. But if this is really it so be it, I'll always love this story.
