Well, from what I understand, Medea and Psyche are friends before Psyche was chosen as the crown princess since Psyche adore Medea's personalities. However, the prince who wanted to get rid of Medea(not sure why) used Psyche death (the assassination) to trap Medea as the murderer.
The prince is the biggest mastermind here. Making Psyche fall in love with him, threatened her (srsly there's something wrong with the 'basement' and killing her( for real if they didn't swap body, psyche is dead already).
