Seolhyun is actually female. That's why the elders does not want hwa (a hybrid) w/ him since seol is a rare lycan (aside from being pureblood).

Yes that adds up in my head too. Originally I thought that the brother was the female and that seol was pretending to be the female to get with hwa. So this last chapter threw me off because of how the brother reacted to hwa’a scent
