Just because something is common doesn't mean people should just get over it. Sexual Assault and rape is very common, so should people be desensitized? Absolutely not.

People are free to respond to a work of art however they want. We're not dissing the uploader at all, they followed through in providing chapters and I have no beef with them. It's the author that I'm expressing concerns with.

Yaoi being non-saintly (whatever it is you mean by that) doesn't have anything to do with the problem at hand, because there are many mangakas who handle subjects like this in an appropriate manner or can avoid it all together.

I never said people should 'just get over it' nor did i say that rape and sexual assualt in general should be something people should be desensitised to. Desensitized doesnt mean just accepting it, it means acknowledging that its very common (unfortunately). you are right, people ARE free to respond to a work of art however they want, thats the purpose of it being put out there, I was just noting about how some people took it to themselves to blame the uploader when they had no part in the publication or creation of the work. I also agree with you on the fact that many other yaoi artists have handled subjects like this way better, my purpose behind stating it "was yaoi, afterall' was because of the fact that many would argue the genre in itself is fetishization and therefor goes under a similar bracket of 'wrongness' (but that is a whole other issue one could debate on).

I get what you mean about how yaoi can be seen as fetishization. I think that yaoi itself is less fetishization but more the way that people respond to it. A lot of yaoi fans tend to perpetuate a fetishization of mlm relationships and end up being really hurtful.

Most of those comments were further back so you probably didn't see them which isn't your fault. I guess its just immaturity, I hope those people come to later realise. I also agree with you on your view about fetishization of yaoi, its totally up to the viewer and how they react. I don't really agree that at ALL yaoi necessarily have rape in them. yeas it is a very common thing, but again, not all of them.
and yaoi is mostly just loved between two males, doesn't have to include bullshit rape, murder or abuse. but the fact is that many have this is a sad fact. and I hope it will change in the future and that many yaoi will NOT have those bullshit rape, murder and abuse.
has for those who complain, just let people say what they want and what they feel, even if you don't agree with them, they have the right to express themself even if it's dumb.
