I think if it were adapted into an anime where they can include special effects, the comedy bits wouldn't sail past the readers.
The scene with Takahashi's family threw me off track. It was like a weird dream that doesn't make sense at all. Takahashi's children and wife were unnatural and they even seemed like robotic. And who the heck wears a business attire and formal dress for a walk? Not to mention the water jug and glass ಠ,_｣ಠ
