But Ivona already defeated the Demon King in the past (Gaspal got all the credit). Her mum being involved is unlikely...maybe...lol.

I think the mom plays a big role to summon this demon king later on.
just speculation...
Mom was very poor after leaving dad. She had to make money somehow... and got involved with the wrong type of people... they scammed her for all of her money. Mom might also dabble in summoning too.
