Let's do not forget in our era many parents from military, even police background or just "because" , commanding but not raising their child(ren). Calling them sir, or even madam does not always mean the children are raised in a warm household. Discipline? Yes they will have. But heartless robots are good on the battlefield against robots. Living fulfilling life? Just look at the Duke. Never understand this way of child raising. Cannot relate to parents like those.
