Happened to me. Was a sad story to have a friend like that and it's usually more heartbreaking than what the manga showed but it's always relieving when you get a way from toxic "friend" like that.

None taken. It's a somewhat rare occurrence so I understand that many may see it as a kind of fantasy. Most toxic friends aren't smart enough to pull something like this so well.
I'm male, and it has certainly happened to me more than once. Being betrayed by someone you've known for years is not a pleasant experience and often the signs aren't really there or you're too inexperienced to see them, so it can come as a real shock. It also makes it more difficult to make close friends later on, as one tends to keep a slight distance.
Count yourself lucky (seriously). I have had fake friends and the toxicity they imbue in your life is the WORSE.
Where do female leads always fiend such fake friends? Never happened to me in my whole life....
