Nah, I heard that he was interested from the start, but he sucks at showing it. Like his attendant said that the ML was treating them differently, even rudely which he would never do normally, but the ML didn't really mean it which is why he asked his attendant "is that how it appeared?" When he was asked about why he was rude to the MC's mom. Anyway, this was a spoiler/clarification I read before.
