There were other comments talking about it before and I think one comment summed it up the best. It basically said that the reason we detest Jeanette is because she is stupid and unknowingly selfish. And totally unaware of her situation and how she affects other people. Like she can't read a room, she doesn't think it is strange/ doesn't question how she got to that estate in the first place. Why does her brother and father have such a bad relationship? Who is the strange man who is living in our house and why does he kinda look like the emperor?
She wants to be with athey and claude but she doesn't realize how that would affect other ppl.
I agree with you on that; though, I do think we should be aware of the fact that she is a child who's practically been sheltered for most of her life and brainwashed into believing a lie for most of her life. Really, i'm just annoyed about how Jeanette receives a disproportionate amount of dislike compared to Claudius' brother and her stepfather. I have yet to see a single comment hating on them for causing this problem. If her stepfather hadn't told her Claudius wasn't her dad, she wouldn't be clinging to him or athy because she thinks their family. However, people continue to throw all the blame on Jeanette as if she's the main problem. She isn't - she's part of it, sure - but she isn't the reason why Athy's life sucks.
I feel u homie. And I do hate the emperor's brother and her stepdad. I just hate stupid characters and I guess other ppl feel the same and it's like the hate that presents itself the most(cuz we see and hear about her the most) so they prob feel it more often
I’m pretty sure the stepfather knows that Claudius isn’t her father. I think he just wants some type of alliance or something with Claudius. Bc if Claudius get’s close with Jeannette then her stepfather can benefit from that? Idk. But I think ppl are more mad at Jeanette than anyone else because she’s basically stealing athy’s father from her. Who is basically her only family. I don’t like Jeanette but you’re right; she’s still a child who doesn’t really know any better.

Yup, he doesn't which makes him even a bigger scum bag. He just want to social climb which really pisses me off, yet nobody even bothers mentioning that.
I don't know why people are throwing hate at Jeanette when the real villains is Claudius' brother and also kinda Jeanette's stepdad (the one with grey hair; I couldn't remember his name) who literally told her Claudius is her DAD.
