He did die ans went to "another world" with Aka. But he's neither human or demon anymore. Aka made him eat a bit of his (aka's) flesh so Sakichi could understand what Aka says. As a result of sharing his flesh, Sakichi will live as long as Aka lives in this "other world" too.
