I think you're correct in thinking that perhaps Claude's brother is starting to care for his daughter. He was originally going to give her the globe, which had a spell that was supposed to control her, but he erased it at the last moment.

I was thinking that too! He remembered what she told him about tha family thing and then he erased the seal before giving it to her.
Is it wrong of me to say that Dark! Claude is beginning to "care" for Jennette? Maybe care is the wrong word, since he said that he want to brainwash her, destroy her soul a bit... maybe he doesn't want to really hurt her? I don't know how to say it, hope you understood what I meant.
