Yes most won’t go on Lezhin, it’s not worth it tbh. Most of the users on mangago read a lot of manga, if one gets dropped then oh well, it’s forgotten.
I used Lezhin one time and I regret it, I paid $10 on only a few chapters, the story turned to shit and $10 couldn’t even get much of the story. Websites like Webtoon are way better imo. The company should pay their artists for bringing users to their site, or they should have a monthly subscription service.
Korean artists should also do Patreon so fans can support, not sure if they have that available in Korea though.
It sucks that the author has to experience this but illegal uploads are unavoidable, so the next step is “how can I benefit from the illegal uploads” imo.
Hello. I've stopped reading at chapter 5. So I'm just a casual reader at most. The webtoon is indeed good. Hot, unique and funny, plus the good art, there's nothing to ask for more.
I just want to say, cause I just saw the author's post in instagram. She said that mangago has 10x more subscribers than Lezhin, sort of saying that readers here are led to believed that this is a mangago original or officially published here. Lol.
I don't know where that comes from? Is there really any of you who are so ignorant that mangago is a pirate site and the official is on Lezhin? I don't think so. Uploaders have always been putting banners for support for the author, especially the crappy quality of the upload is enough to know.
The at stake livelihood situation is really justified. Because it's her work, she deserves to earn every cent of it. Most importantly, who would't want for others to cherish their work? So supporting her through official channels would do so. Unfortunately, pirate sites has been the groundroot of every manga, anime, and webtoon. You can't remove them unless you uproot them all at once. Fans are double edge. They love the work= 1. Cherish it, keep it to themselves, 2. Share the love. How else would community of like-minded discussion of the work emerge? They just can't help themselves. It' s a culture, you can't remove this urge of sharing the love. Maybe because Korea has very strict control on their copyright and intellectual property that she can't understand our perspective as a free user (lol) in the net.
So it really strikes her. Because there is a comparison. The "should be" subscribers=revenues definitely gave the author a great hit. So she thinks, that mangago, as a platform is stealing her readers. Which is like, the opposite for me? I don't know, from other numerous works that have been licensed internationly, who didn't become famous because of the piracy? It gives her work free advertising actually.
Even if Pian Pian was removed here. Mangago readers won't go read on Lezhin... Maybe less than 1% of that 10x, maybe lesser, only true fans will do so. Then next time, no new readers (who don't know or don't care to use Lezhin, simply bec 1. It's not available in their country. 2. Too expensive. 3. Underage.) Such works really does need other legit platforms. Poor author, you're not the only one who tried to fight for your right as a creator and lost.
