I don't think there a scene like this in the novel either. I'm fairly certain it had jumped to the scene of her meeting her "sperm-donor". I think the manga made it more logically for her "willingly" meet him.

I used the reference "sperm-donor" as a derogatory term for her biological father because he was a jerk for what he did to her mother afterall. (づ￣ ³￣)づ
I was also referencing the novel's chronological order.
