On triggering topics and spoilers ahead

Honestly some of you guys in the comment section need help, like seriously get a psychologist or a counsellor because seriously, there's so many bloody red flags in Ed and Chang's relationship? So many people in the comments shipping Chang and Ed, wishing they would have sex, saying he's hot and totally your type. Like there's no way anyone should be glamorising or fantasizing about Chang's behavior and I think people need to get that clear in the first place.

First putting all spoilers aside, just looking at Chang's behavior – NONE of it is remotely okay, to a person, to a friend, or to a lover. No one should be treating ANYONE in that manner and if someone treats you like that, you should get the hell out of that relationship and never see that person again. In the first place Chang extorts Ed for money, giving him impossibly high interest to pay back for a debt Ed never asked him for. At several points he controls Ed's actions and never lets him say no, even seeing how uncomfortable and repulsed Ed is. He taunts him, he calls him names, he's downright derogatory and basically treats Ed like trash every single time he speaks to him. And then as if all that is not enough, he goes on and RAPES him, despite the fact that Ed verbalises "no" several times, he rapes him in spite of the fact that Ed fights him off, physically, and Ed tries to leave time after time. All of this is explicitly written, explicitly drawn. It is unequivocally rape. Without question. His loving Ed is secondary to his actions. His physical appearance is WAY WAY secondary to whatever his actions are. His, idk, whatever the fuck "chemistry" with Ed is secondary to his actions. Because none of that, CONDONES or EXCUSES his behavior. NOTHING can condone or excuse a thing as rape.

Secondly, people in the comment section saying Ed "asked for it" or he "seduced him". This is victim blaming. A no simply means NO. No matter the circumstances, let alone in such a case where it was clear beyond doubt that Ed DID NOT want to have sex with him. No, its not Ed's fault that Chang raped him because he DID NOT even have a choice.

And third, no its not JUST some dumb story and we're not supposed to all just say "hey! Rape is fine because its fictional!" Because WTF? In every and any context, Rape is wrong. This may be a story, a manhwa, but all the same it is a reflection of real life situations that DO happen to real people out there. And let me tell you something – it fucking sucks. It's shit. It's disgusting. I know of people who've been sexually assaulted, and I've seen how these people, men or women, blaming themselves, feeling dirty, feeling ashamed, people falling into depression, having PTSD, being unable to ever look a man in the eye again without the crippling fear. There are people out there who have to deal with this. And if you start normalising this kind of behavior in fiction, you'll also begin to normalise this behavior in real life. You'll go on and carry this attitude towards real victims. And for those many many of you that are still so young, you'll go on and think "its okay if my partner controls me," or "its okay if he has sex with me even if im unwilling, because he's HOT or because he loves me". If you meet a man like Chang, its a fucking red flag and I hope at the very least that you remember whatever you read here and RUN.
