I think the point is that he had the decency to feel like he should suffer and atone--which he did. He didn't take the house deed, he lived poor, he made Bai Ting and himself and his mother all suffer for what they did to his first wife. Unlike the bitch, who had no remorse, he realizes he was an asshole.
I enjoyed seeing some of the previous jerks suffer and die. But changing up things keeps it interesting. And if you think about it, which is worse: suffering miserably FOR LIFE, or just being killed (like first story). I think suffering for life is worse.
There seems to be a lot of people saying he redeemed himself but no. He literally beat his wife to death, I mean I agree that the transmigrater should have some karma too but in the end HE choose to cheat, HE choose to let his mom torture his wife, HE vowed to stand by his wife but then HE betrayed and abused his wife, HE did whatever he wanted to his wife and to the transmigrater. In the end I feel like he is STILL doing whatever he wanted, oh he feels sorry for Lucia, but his wife is DEAD. If his wife was still alive do u think he would feel guilty or repentant? Doubtful. He still let his mom mistreat his new wife, oh so he is poor now? Boohoo I feel like he got off way to easy.
