I think that he went to get the other man to stop annoying him. It's like when you do the dishes so your mom won't shout at you
Shojo manga always make things too complicated: he refused the marriage meeting multiple times yet when it came down to it, he still went ? Like why ? If his social position makes him unable to refuse then why did he bitch about refusing from the beginning ? Why did he act like he'll never go and then he still went ?
And how did a strong guy like him who is used to wars and deception fall for some strange woman's plot and overcomplicate matters ?
I don't mind shojo but shojo where nothing happens and all is well then problems come out of no where and characters don't act as smart as they should be are just annoying
