And I don't think he is old right?....isn't it more like he has his memory (I guess strength too) from his past.....so if I am right it not really that gross, but I'm glad he is not interested in anyone right now....if there is going to be any romance it should be when he is older and the girl (I dont really like any of the two girls he knows right now that much, they cool but they are not it) should be cool, strong , and not clingy
He is still old. He reincarnated with all his memories in his past life. He LIVED his past life. When he was reincarnated he wAYY pasted mature. Thats why I love art, but his maturity makes me think of him as a grown adult. I havent really read the webcomic just the novel. In the novel you see more of what hes thinking and how he sees tess disturbs me. Although its been a while since i read it, i very feelinh gross about it. Sorry for my profanity in the first comment tho, i came on too strong.
Of course it would be ridiculous to expect art to have romance with someone with the same mental age as him. Its just that his mental age is OLD, he is old. He is an adult. Tess is an actual child and when reading the novel there was a lot of content where it shows tess and art having feelings that kinda irks me. I totally understand if it doesnt bother you as much because of his physical body and im sorry for my profanity in my first comment, but for me it just feels gross knowing that art is as old as he is compared to how young tess is.
Okay, I've had this conversation on this site before (though We all add the characters' situation in.)
Short answer: Once typical brain growth solidifies in adults(25-30,) mental age is less of a factor. Art has a chance to fall in love with anyone at that point and have it be on equal terms.
Discussion: Right now, Art is mentally older than his appearance. He has no interest in romance. Sometimes, girls are more advanced in this topic, more interested.
But once they all hit about twenty-five physically, that difference is not going to matter nearly as much as it does now. Adulthood is when you find anyone can be your friend if you try to get along (and both parties agree.) You have to be more careful around children, who obviously cannot protect themselves and would not know any warning signs in manipulative behavior; someone might mimic your behavior to get closer to them or someone who does protect the child might see you as a threat.
Art has handled his second childhood well thus far. He is human and will make mistakes. But whether it be his past, his mental age, or lack of biological drive, every reader agrees even in the latest chapters, he still remains romantically uninterested. He is pushed, by several, to become so. It feels false and we feel cheated. Not sure if the author will handle this or let the trainreck happen. It is why most of us stopped reading.
Its really fucking gross knowing his age in his past life. The romance between art and tess made me so uncomfortable.
