You know, it’s not that easy... sure deep down Henry known he shouldn’t have but maybe he tried because he could settle for just “enough”, let’s take a look at his past, his mother walked out of his and his father’s life, the marriage was unsuccessful, his crush got married and divorced, he went through such an emotional period of time. His actions shouldn’t be justified but it is, perhaps in his heart he knew that he could be safe with Seth, but it’s not gonna settle for it because it’s not what his heart wants. He doesn’t want to choose Sam because as mentioned, Sam never takes anything seriously. He is also cynical about relationships due to his past and his present. Seth was caught up at the wrong time and the wrong place. He’s a good person, he really is. But sadly, it is what also happened in real life. I’m hoping that for a season 2 or a sequel, Seth gets to have a happy ending for himself too.
I’m not really sad for Seth. Like yea it sucks but thats normal to fail to conquer your crush. It’s just pissing me off the way Henry sct. You might think that it’s normal for someone to act so indecisive but for me it’s absurd. If Henry doesn’t understand what he wants and causes a lot of drama because of that, his life would be only drama because he doesn’t understand how to make the good choices.
- but it shows that some of you clearly never have been in love? I didn‘t rlly care who Henry ends up with, but the author decided for Sam and I think it was clear from the very beginning that it would be him.
Love just happens. You CANNOT decide who you fall for. If one could, Seth would long ago have chosen someone different, but he couldn‘t.
Sam always loved Henry - he just never realised it because he had no reason to. It was said that he married a friend just because she asked - because he didn‘t think much of it. He never loved her THAT way. He always saw it in a friendship kind of way. I KNOW it doesn‘t make sense - that is why it is stated that his ex-wife never understood herself, that is why they had a DIVORCE.
+ Henry decided to distance himself because he guilt tripped himself for the accident. And that Henry has always loved Sam is no mystery to us either.
Henry never loved Seth romantically - he loved the FEELINGS Seth gave him. Feelings he wished for since Highschool, feelings of being loved, appreciated and cared for like a lover that he always wanted to feel from Sam but never got. He used Seth as a coping mechanism in some kind of way. Ofc that is n o t good, nor reasonable, but if you‘re lovesick or even heartbroken and someone cares for you and makes you feel loved again you think you love the person too, when you actually just love their actions. It‘s NOT clever or fair at all(!) but Henry just depicts a human. And we humans just don‘t make sense
I‘m just glad Seth was kind to himself to let Henry go because he knew it wasn‘t healthy for him. I‘m glad he took care of himself. But the point where he said that he doesn‘t care if he‘s just a replacement for Sam, that was the point where everyone should have realised that he didn‘t have a chance.
Wistful Summer kept us all for over 60 chapters because it‘s so real - psychologically seen even are the three characters so realistic. (Almost) every action makes sense to me. So we should just all be happy with the author‘s decisions (it was planned from the very beginning after all?) and should stop hating on each other (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
