Ya know I do think you’re being a lil sensitive I mean... it’s a yaoi lmfao. BUT I do completely understand where you’re coming from. There’s a lot of disorders that go unnoticed or are just portrayed wrongly through media, but that’s everything. Cars don’t just blow up and trains don’t go ridiculously fast. It’s basically just there to make the story more interesting not to be informative. Same thing with all these medical shows violations are like through the roof. lol. But I understand it can become extremely frustrating and irritating. Yeah, no I completely understand where you’re coming from
You're not being "too sensitive" I'm tired of people acting like empathy for others is some type of thing to be ashamed of, that's so bizarre to me honestly that the internet is so against natural emotions. You make a good point, mental illness is very demonized and misunderstood ESPECIALLY personality disorders. People sometimes don't even believe DID really exists because media portrays the disorder and its origin so inaccurately. Don't even get me started on how regressive East Asia can be with mental illness, it's even more important to represent mental illness more genuinely there.
People don't get that something being fiction doesn't make it completely removed from the real world, we get a lot of ideas for fiction in the real world and sometimes those ideas are shitty or incredibly uninformed which can result in the perpetuation of mindsets that are already ignorant.
Also, I hope I don't come off rude but can we please stop using "its yaoi" as an excuse? Like yaoi can't be a classy and well-written genre. You can improve on any genre, video games have proven that lmao
you dont come off rude at all! thank you for understanding my pov. i felt like i might of been too touchy since i dont have DID but thanks for validating my point! I guess what i meant by its "yaoi" is like some of the cliches can be kinda unrealistic or cringy. When it comes to the rape and toxic relationships we really need to stop making excuses for that type of stuff.
The problem with yaoi is the relationships are so rushed because of the smut and then the plot gets lost. I prefer a slow burn. That's why BL are better than most yaoi but then that element is missing. It's just uneven either way lol
i like how the author clearly said DID instead of multiple personality disorder. that being said did is caused by reoccurring trauma during childhood and i feel like they could of not used it in the storyline. its a pretty complex disorder and although its good to get the word out about it idk i just feel like this isnt the way. especially since this is yaoi. or maybe im just being sensitive. i follow a lot of systems on yt for a really long time now and they've talked about the media's improper portrayal of did. but its also not my place but idk thats how i feel
