Japanese has many different types of "love"

Unlike english, in japanese they use different words that all mean love. Just because shes sayin "i love you" it doesnt have the same context meaning of "Im in love with you". In this case it means romantic love. So she is saying "i like you and want to date you". You guys have to remember you are reading foreign literature.
