I read parts of the novel (it was too long and i got bored at some point) but honestly i still really couldnt get behind the Knight guy. Like I saw him more as a brother figure for the princess even if she was in love with him. Like when we get glimpse of his perspective, i never felt that he had any romantic inclination just that he absolutely adores her as a princess. Maybe its because im biased with Lutz since his introductio. Bbbuuut I do agree that so far, the novel gives a bit more light to Mr. Knight earlier on compared to the manga
I only got on board after ch132 onwards, which is probably the start of a turning point on their relationship. But before that, you're absolutely right in that he has zero inclination of romance towards her (she's 11? 12?) and the story makes it very clear nothing is going to happen, at least until she reaches her late teenage years.
Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with their age gap. When she turns 18, does it matter? He may adore her as a princess now, but how long will that last when she makes her advances on him, especially now that she's in her teens and he's starting to be aware. *shrugs* I've read worse - there's one novel with a 16 year old and a 64 year old knight; now THAT, I cannot get behind it.
I agree. Age wont matter when both parties reach a certain age (in fact its kinda cute). I forgot where I stopped with the novel but I do agree that things can change for the future cause she'd no longer be a kid then but that aside, Mr. Knight just isnt my cup of tea I guess. Like hes too... vanilla? I mean im cool if others are into it, i dont really mind cause to each their own. But Id really just see him as the older brother type. Or like as a mob character? He's a really bland ML for me.
Also i think i know what novel youre referring to with that hahaha
Yes, Leonhart isn't everyone's cup of tea - in fact, he splits English fandom with some bemoaning why she can't look at other supposedly better guys lol. Japanese fandom fares quite well, they do like the 'princely' characters more. It's why I sometimes feel I'm the only one who's supporting the two here lol. He really does get his moment to shine later on, I'll promise you that.
And on that other novel, pass me some brain bleach please. I just can't.
I'm actually with you ladies on this point - it dragged for so long during kidnapping arc, I forced myself to plow through anyway and nearly breathed a sigh of relief when it was over. The upcoming arcs were a little draggy too after that, so at that point, I'm only in it for the Leon/Princess ship. It's a massive payoff for Leon fans, but not so for other readers unfortunately.
Lol, every time people complain about their age gap, I'm thinking to myself... but at least she isn't chasing after her dead grandpa's best friend. *chokes on a spoon'
I tried. I know I've read like a chapter in this site before, but I just couldnt find it. It's called "The Duke’s Daughter Is the Knight Captain’s (62) Young Wife"
Here's the novel tho, if u r still interested

I was half dreading half anticipating the next chapter. I swear, this title brings out the shoujo side of me. Knowing the princess, she would fumble and be all insecure (she even says it in the latest chapter that head knows, heart can't come to terms with the whole thing) and Leon, well maybe we will finally get his POV...
yeah.... I was actually suprised the girl from the other world took an interest on Leo.. I mean, he's not even a capture target!? Perhaps when she'll see the other targets, she might change idea? (or so, that's what I hope lmao XD No drama pls)
Btw, I think the king know that his daughter (Rose) might be related to the other world (⊙…⊙ ) After all when he saw that japanese girl , he said "I see. You're the same"
But if you remember reading the prologue, Rosemarie saw them together, the heroine was hugging Leon (if I recall right, it's been ages) so definitely the two women have their eyes on Leon. I think it'll go the cliche way: Rose would be insecure, give up because 'heroine privileges' Leon would come to terms with his feelings and all, and cue shoujo drama on top of everything else going on in the plot lol.
A hundred chapters later... omg I was completely right, she saw them hugging AND RAN AWAY AND THINKS THEY'RE IN LOVE AND GIVES UP lol the cliche, I just can’t. Yet because I’m such shipper I’ll lap it up.
Now it’s up to Leon to do the chasing, please do sir, and start moving because everyone’s more or less of age and them girls eyeing him come on.
SPOILERS
The MC is completely in love with Leonhart, the Commander Knight (his actual name is Leonhart von Olsen, I haven't got a single clue why it's mistranslated as Konoe). The rest are just friends to her. No one else can compare to the knight in her eyes. I really stress, no one.
But there is no romance and is completely one sided (FOR NOW). He knows about her feelings but before he could turn her down, she cries and asks if she could hold onto these feelings until he loves someone else. She tells him she can't fight her age, and to turn her down when she's older, preparing herself for future heartbreak. Things probably will change when the Heroine comes in and probably tries to steal him away. That's when the love triangle starts. But I honestly think the Heroine will lose. His loyalty and tenderness for the MC, platonic or not, is incomparable, except maybe her two brothers. He is utterly protective of her, and is the only one who knows about her ability to tell the future.
Currently in Japanese book raws, ML remains steadfast loyal and devoted to her. There are moments you read through other people's perspectives, where you could see ML worries and thinks of her so much it messes up his otherwise perfect routine of work (she left on a journey of x years) and he refers to her as his 'light of hope'. It was only after they reunited again, that Leonhart truly gets more focus.
I think I prefer the novel over manga on this, as it sheds so much more development for Knight. But he will have upcoming scenes and you'll see more. For now, he's still a surface character in the manga.
