I personally don’t agree with this, it IS a profession. There are prostitutes who adore their job. Yes there is being forced into the job, which isn’t their fault. But, on the other hand, you don’t know what is going these people’s mind, so you shouldn’t just disregard how they feel about being a sex worker. If they like it, they like it.
I’ve talked with about 20 prostitutes for a project and they all had deep emotional problems. The majority was forced into prostitution due to financial problems and drug addiction but some started with prostituting themselves because of low self esteem or simply bc they liked sex. Those women definitely didn’t have fun. They all agreed that they absolutely regretted going down that path. (Those women were in their late 20s-40s). It saddens me and I genuinely wish them a better life, a life they deserve.
I hope they’re all good, but they can’t speak for everyone. Of course, neither can I.
I hope they’re doing better too. All of them were lovely ladies. Of course they can’t speak for everyone but I have never heard of an actual prostitute thinking that it was worth it and having a real life conversation and seeing everyone having the same opinion was what genuinely formed my view on prostitution.
Ah yes. There are prostitutes who don’t hate their job. But the number is small and is pretty much finding a needle in the haystack. I had watched a doc once a decade ago. Most of the prostitutes of course hated it. But there was just one girl who said she does it as she likes sex and “why not get paid for something you like.”
I suppose I could see her perspective, as I also do a job based on something I enjoy doing. But it’s just doesn’t seem the same at all. But I come from a perspective where sex with just anyone is definitely not my thing. Now I don’t know if she was honest or nah. But with all the prostitutes in the world, it’s a likely possibility that a small group of them do it for enjoyment. I should say, I’m not a fan of prostitution, I’m just saying that this types of person exists.

idk why I should be not chill with it if it clearly isn't forced prostitution? it's not my place to judge prostitutes IRL about what they chose do with their own bodies. in fiction I just apply the rule "everyone's happy with what they're doing and mentally healthy unless otherwise stated."
