If people compare her to a "beauty" the reaction would be like "yeah, she's cute" but on her own people would think that she is pretty. When the Duke thought about her appearance, he was indirectly comparing her to his other lovers. But soon enough he will forget them and see how pretty she is, like in this chapter.
they say she's not that beautiful which I don't get cause she's depicted and drawn as a real beauty, I get when they said she isn't that voluptuous cause it's not like she's curvy.
But like she is really good looking so how come they say she's not?
