Is Untamed worth it? I love this story, I've read the novel, read the manhwa, and watched the anime. I'm just kind of scared to commit to 50hours worth of tv... but if y'all say it's worth it I'll watch it

i love all versions of mo dao zu shi so The Untamed is definitely worth it for me. Though don’t expect to have some romantic wangxian moments, coz you know, censorships

Its gay but more like will stare longingly into your eyes and less of the I'll fuck you in the bushes at the end of the story kind of thing.

I liked it, but I haven't finished it. I personally like it second to last (last being this manhwa actually lol). But it's not bad, the beginning will be really off putting with all the changes. But it's probably one of the best tv series adaptations I've watched (japan can't seem to do good manga to series adaptations...)

I recommend watching it (I literally spent last week just rewatching it all lol)

I loved it. Even though its not explicitly gay, it isn't erased completely. The setting, the robes, the swords and props, they're all beautiful. The cgi and some actors acting might make you cringe tho. But overall it's well done, you'll fall in love with the main cast.

it all depands on you, I guess. for me I didn't like the live drama at all. for others they like it, each and their own like and dislike XD
I love the novel much more and just could not watch the live drama.

Oh I totally loved the untamed! Personally I think it's totally worth your time and Internet. Even without explicit scenes the cast did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. You just can't get over how romantic their interactions and loving gazes are uwu! Btw they even knowtowed 3 times in the ancestral hall! I still wonder how that scene got past the censorships but damn that means they literally got sneakily married(≧∀≦). Oh I love the Untamed!!!!

It's totally worth it. I also recommed the audio drama

    jana_83 February 12, 2020 4:35 pm

Thank you for asking. I've been avoiding because I thought all the gay was removed. Now that I learned its not, I'll keep watching it.

    Brieeze February 12, 2020 4:42 pm

I would love to listen to the audio drama but I cant find it anywhere *sob* thanks everyone, ill watch it, its subbed on Netflix rn so here's hoping I survive another round of "let's rip her heart out" lol

I'm going to be the odd one out and say don't watch it. Or maybe watch it and see if you enjoy it?
I personally couldn't get that into it but I'm just not a fan of the slapstick humour that seems to prevail Chinese dramas.
I personally found that they made WWX too dramatic (I know, how can you do that?), and even a bit stupid at times. They also changed quite a few of the major plot points that it felt more like an "inspired by MDZS" more so than a true depiction of the novel.
Also, they made my thotty daddies (insert eggplant emoji and wet emoji several times) into old men in the drama and my heart cried a lot ! haha
But really I think my main point which I couldn't get into was the whole typical Chinese drama aspect (and I don't mean that in a mean way either, I just don't know how else to word it), in the sense that the set looked quite cheap at times, the effects were over the top and tacky, and (again) the humour was a little immature and slapstick. If you've watched Chinese dramas before and have liked them then maybe this isn't a big turn off, but personally wasn't my taste of tea.

I'd definitely suggest giving it a go though.

I know exactly what you mean lol I watched this other chinese drama called ice fantasy that made me feel like that in a lot of moments (cheesy, tacky, cringy) although the story and drama was good enough that I did finish the show. I think I'll try to watch like the first 3 episodes if I'm hooked I'll finish it if not I'll just go back and read the novel again....(which I'm already doing lol)

the untamed doesnt really have slapstick humour (i meant sometimes) but not like super cringey, over the top moments (there are very funny moments tho lmfao). honestly despite the fact that its not exactly like the novel its good on its own anyways id say. and yeah the set sometimes is not that great but i mean its not its gonna be absolutely perfect and some of it is green screen so like i cant complain lmfao. and i personally i think the reason why the characters seemed weird is cuz event the actors had a hard trying to get into the characters (especially cuz the actors actual personality are very opposite of their characters lol if u look into behind the scene moments) they still did a great job tho (tho some scenes were a little over the top) we still love them tho lol. but i truly do recommend giving the show a try!! u can watch it on youtube or netflix (in the USA).

I liked it so much. I after I finish I couldn´t get enough so I watch the anime and I´m reading the manga, next I´ll read the novel... The chemistry between the actors is so good that we do not need explicit scenes!
