I’m about 99% positive that the band will form after the kidnapping. It’s been quite heavily implied and makes sense. It’s not really hard to figure out which would come first tbh.. at least to me lol.
friendly reminder though that the art of zhan zheng xi dressed as a police officer likely has nothing to do with the storyline. when the author first drew him that way, she also drew the other boys in uniform (mo in like a swat team uniform, he tian looks like he’s in a fancy waiter outfit or a musical conductor uniform, and jian yi in a pilot’s uniform) on weibo and stated about drawing them in uniforms for fun — not all of the author’s illustrations, such as those for a perfect example, have to do with the plotline or will be something connected to the story.. so zheng xi being an officer later is likely not to happen, especially with the author already kinda setting them all up to be musicians later in the future (jian yi as the singer/guitarist, he tian and mo also on the guitars, and zhan zheng xi on the drums based on illustrations and implications in the story) in a band when they become older — at least, if that is the career route the author chooses to stick with. think what will be likely to happen is after their middle school days are over and they reach high school, the official kidnapping arc will happen, probably a time skip to fast forward through jian yi’s disappearance, jian yi comes back, eventually both couples get officially together, and then the band likely forms & does performances. wouldn’t be shocked if the author tried to end it with them performing a big finale type of show.
in regards to he tian and mo’s mafia ties, I wouldn’t be completely shocked if the author were to have he tian’s family (he cheng and their father) likely be the reason why the restaurant incident happened and mo’s dad is in jail. just simply because it would provide angsty interesting conflict especially since he tian seems to really have a lot of animosity towards his own family. I don’t think he’d know of it yet but would find out later in these middle school days and it would completely open a whole new can of worms. that’s only if that theory is true though. there are a lot of unanswered questions about all of their families regardless of how much angst the author decides to put into the story, I don’t think stressing too much over it would be good bc at least we know, as confirmed by the author herself, that they will all have happy endings and end up together and live happily ever after. “angst with happy ending” is always a win LOL.
I think Mo is also involved with the mafia/family stuff. Remember his dad? He's a convict serving his time in jail, and Mo still looks up to him. "I promise to grow up and be an upstanding man, just like you father." Or something like that when he visited him. He was crying, so possibly his father was framed/set up? Wrongly accused and sentenced?
I'm not too sure. We know he has some sort of background too but I'm not sure whether he is on Jian Yi and He Tian's families side, if he even is involved with them at all. I don't think they are aware of Mo's family and situation. But tbh I feel like He Tian or Jian Yi's parents would be one of the reasons that his father got sentenced.
Zheng xi is the only one without some sort of mafia background (so far), as his family was already shown. Except, I've been wondering this for awhile now but where are his parents?

as mentioned in the beginning of the story, jian yi gets kidnapped on the second day of high shool and disappears for about three years. he doesn't come back until zhan zheng xi is a freshman in college. right now they are in their last year of middle school in china (15 years old) and this is all the flashback beforehand. you may need to do a bit of re-reading if you're still confused but that is it in short: they are in middle school rn, later jian yi disappears on the second day of high school, he comes back about 3 years later, both couples get together around this time etc.
a few of the special chapters are also in the future when they are older too such as the christmas chapters.

The recent chapters feel like the calm before the storm as everthing is so fluffy and the relationships between the characters have developed a LOT. They are already in their final year of middle school and the serious arcs are approaching so yeah PREPARE YOURSELF TO SHED SOME UGLY TEARS BECAUSE ANGST IS ON ITS WAY!!!

I’ve been really thinking about 19 Days. There is a lot of foreshadowing in the art work and in the time skips. As certain things fall into place, like the band, I’m questioning more and more things that have been introduced previously.
We know Jian Yi is going to be kidnapped on the second day of high school, we are assuming it will be done by his father (since previous attempts have been made and it’s heavily implied), we know his father is a mafia boss. We know He Cheng, Brother Q and He Cheng (also He Tians) work for Jian Yis father. We can assume now that moving Jian Yi and training him all ties into Jian Yi being groomed to take over for his father.. There is absolutely no possible way He Tian was just put by accident into the same school as Jian Yi, He Tian grew up much more aware of his families dealings. His interest in Jian Yi wasn’t by accident. Not to mention he’s chosen Mo to basically be his underling, he can play act as serving Mo but his ties to the actual Mafia are real. But could mo’s be as well? Remember the fancy restaurant fight scene flashback?
The only mc without any obvious connections to the mafia is Zhan Zheng.. who is depicted later to be wearing a police officer uniform. Annnd we know from previous chapters that when Jian Yi returns Zhan Zheng doesn’t really know how to approach him and he is at least portrayed as being put off by his antics and attitude. (Let’s not forget Zhan Zheng at this current point has stated several times he’s meeting an obligation and promises he has made.. the biggest one so far being Jian Yi being strong enough to take care of himself.. which is approaching)
I’ve asked other people’s opinions on here before if they believe the band arch or the kidnapping arch will happen first and I believe the kidnapping will come before the band as well, which gives me some hope but im super preparing for angst and maybe some unseemly secrets coming...
