I see it that Amami hopes to make him fall in love and he is totally in love while Hachi is just playing around without any intention to fall in love with him.. and that's so cruel...
Amami isn't dumb tho. He knows he could get hurt. He just trying his best at the moment to make sure he doesn't get hurt. I don't think Amami is in love with Hachi yet, I think he likes him a lot and wants to confirm Hachis feelings before allowing himself to fall in love. This is just my opinion tho, so take it with a grain of salt.
I see a lot of people pissed at Hachi for toying around with Amami but it looks like Amami understands what his 'place' is and he's trying to move away from that. Also, they're obviously gonna fall in love they're just stubborn af. I like that they both trying to toy with each other. It makes this super interesting and is probably one of the best yaois I've read in a couple months.
