this is about to be a long post.
also i’m not trying to come for haesoo x taekyung shippers, this is just my opinion. so i’ve been rereading love or hate and i realized that haesoo has a problem. he’s constantly putting himself into unhealthy relationships or making the relationship unhealthy. and in last week’s chapter it was shown that taekyung basically does the same thing. haesoo and taekyung are both feeding off of each other’s insecurities. haesoo just needs someone to be there whenever he’s sad and lonely, so taekyung takes advantage of that by being the person who there’s. and it became evident that he wasn’t solely being there for haesoo because he wanted to make haesoo feel better, but because he wanted to feel needed.
it seems like in haesoo’s mind—he has painted a really negative image of joowoon. when haesoo said he didn’t love joowoon i’m 100% sure both of them knew he was lying. obviously he loved him, and he still does—even taekyung realizes that, but their relationship is just complicated. he’s only pushing joowoon away because of his mom. and i feel like his mom’s disgust is only partially due to the fact that they were stepbrothers and mostly due to the fact that they are both men. so regardless of whoever haesoo wants to be with for the rest of his life, his mom will be upset and disgusted because it will be a man since haesoo is gay. joowoon obviously really cares about haesoo—(1) he’s loyal to him, and we haven’t had any reasons to believe that he sees anyone other than haesoo; (2) whenever he has free time, he wants to spend it with haesoo; (3) he’d literally do anything for him i feel like haesoo magnifies all the negative aspects of their relationship or just makes things up—for example when he claims joowoon is never there when he needs him. obviously joowoon is busy af, he’s an actor!!! so of course he can’t always be there. so haesoo feels the need to fill the void with other men, taekyung being current man. the reason taekyung is so different from all the other guys he has seen in the past is because he literally does whatever to please haesoo.
as we saw in taekyung’s past relationship, his boyfriend was upset because he would just do whatever he asked and never do anything on his own. that’s exactly what haesoo wants out of taekyung and that aspect of haesoo is what taekyung wants. so now haesoo has completely shattered joowoon’s heart because of the difficult situation rather than his lack of feelings for him—and is going to taekyung because he thinks it’s easier to be with him because of the lack of circumstances.
