Since it's through a distribution with their main English publisher Netcomics, I'm not sure they had much of a choice in the matter. They never announced it's available there and still have anti-Lezhin icons, so I doubt they're too happy with it. Although it's only more profit for them. Maybe they can be content so long as the actual rights don't belong to Lezhin.
Knowing it's from Netcomics actually makes things worse( ̄∇ ̄"). Depending on what kind of contract they signed they may not even get paid for the sales on Lezhin (by the way the anti Lezhin icons don't mean much considering that they are or were used by authors while working for Lezhin).
Lezhin owns the right to publish it which is n't that different from how things were before. Webtoon publishers usually don't own a series like manga publishers. The only buy the right to publish it but don't own the series itself or the chapters. It's more like the streaming market than the manga market in that regard.
Besides, they knew what they signed up for. Netcomics has made deals with Lezhin in the past (The webtoon I mentioned in my OP is from Netcomics) and they probably signed a contract which gave them the right to sublicense the translation unless they actively agreed on selling the rights to Lezhin specifically.
Either way, they agreed on this. They didn't have to find an English publisher, they didn't have to sign such a shitty contract but they still did.
It's on Lzhin, Tppytoon and Netcomics (which I didn't even know of) and who knows where else. All I know is these companies keep scaming us and the authors. I hope noone buys this on Netcomics or Lzhin and goes straight to Tppytoon as it's the most affordable. Also recently I feel like the translations are getting worse and worse... Lzhin's translations at least used to be topnotch but now I see so many messy ones. Same with other sites. Probably because they work with distributers more now and those just cheap out on proofreading etc.
The prizes are ridiculous sometimes, that's true. I have to pay about $12 on Ntcomics to read the remaining 49 chapters of Midnight Partner but on Lzhin it costs more than $30. I could buy the entire series on Ntcomics for that price and I'm pretty sure they they don't charge that much to pay the author more.
And from what I can tell Warehouse costs $0.35 on Ntcomics, about $0.40-$0.50 on Tppytoon and $0.90-$1 on Lzhin.
$1 for a manga chapter is fine since they usually offer a lot more content but I don't pay that much for a webcomic chapter.
So I just went over to L*zhin to read my daily chapter of Midnight partner and guess what I saw at the front page? The English version of Warehouse.
I mean I'm glad they settled their differences but after all those years of fighting against L*zhin, trying to find another publisher for the translated version and going on a very long hiatus just to continue Warehouse on another platform it's kind of funny that the translated version still ended up on their website.
Especially after being so vocal about how they definitely won't give L*zhin the right to publish the translated version.
Again, great for the fans and I'm sure they will make a lot of money with it but it also made me laugh. Out of all the stories that disappeared from their site after the protests, this was the last one I expected to make a return.
