Did I ever say that they should stop? I am also giving my opinion on this story. Why are you also including other things that are irrelevant? Re-read what I said, the only thing I said is don't take things too serious, and ended up making feel whatever they're feeling. If they can't handle it why do they keep pushing on reading this when they feel like that. Also, it's not like I'm forcing them to like that ship, for me is fine if they hate it sure like I care. The only things bother me is those people who taking this seriously because of age gap and saying it's raping when there isn't any rape between the two shipping, then applying it to their own life because it reminds them of a bad memories. Again seriously? why keep reading it if it bothers you and when you already been warned before starting the chapter? About you saying "like anyone worries about these two in real life" we don't really worry about it because this is FICTION but the others taking this like it's base in real life. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ before you say about reading the GOT discussion why don't you read carefully the discussion here.
I read it coz I like Jesse and Andy.
I don't know anything about others claiming there was rape. In my opinion I haven't seen any sign of that. Other than the pedo teacher pressuring the students for sexual favors, it all looks pretty consensual to me. So I'm not sure who you read who's been talking about there being rape between the ships.
However, I think it's silly to say someone disliking something is "taking it too seriously". If they advocate for banning or censoring such works, I'm 100% against that. But if people want to say that they don't like the Joel/ Chase thing because it's uncomfortable reading about a middle-aged man and a high school boy, I get that. I also can't enjoy a ship like that.
Plus Chase is an obnoxious character to me. I hate the way he's drawn. Everything about him is annoying to me. That's my opinion. If Chase is a character you adore and worship, good for you. Love your Chase then.
I don't know what you mean by worry about this is in real life. I just think it's completely understandable for people to dislike the ship and comment on their dislike of it.
My point of the GOT is the whole "why do people take these fictional so seriously?!"
I don't know... seems like people take fictional characters they're into seriously. How is that an argument against people expressing their dislike of a pair?
I see commenters keep trying to use the "Lol. You're taking these fictional characters too seriously" as a passive way to tell other commenters to "shut up" and not express their dislike of Joel/ Chase.
It'd be great if commenters would stop trying to silence other commenters and just let everyone say their opinion. But I doubt that'll ever happen. Apparently someone not enjoying another's ship is cause for war.
Many works of fiction gets heatedly discussed. Going around crying "You need to stop taking these fictional characters seriously" is silly. We might as well not discuss the story at all if any opinion expressed about the characters will immediately lambasted as "That's too serious!"
How non-seriously should we discuss this? Is there a gage?
LOL I never adore or worship anything I'm not that obsessive I just like how comedy it is Chase trying so hard to get the attention, also I'm satisfied enough that the main are together now. If what you think that the way I express it to make seems like from them to stop, them you are assuming too much. What mostly I'm trying to convey is for them not too take this way too serious, then basing it like it's in real life. I mostly wish for them to take it easy and not to judge right away, and just have fun but it seem they can't have have fun for taking it seriously and making themselves uncomfortable. If they keep feeling like that why they're still reading this? it doesn't make sense and it kind or ruining the other readers mood. Seriously, I hate people who judge right away to the story that is still ongoing and keep complaining about it, because like me as a reader I also look at the comments to discuss my fan girling and talk about the story, but seeing how others commenting feeling uncomfortable and judging just like chase and joel that its a rape because of age gap it's nonsense and it can lead to misunderstanding, and people who looks for review before reading won't be able to read the story because they might think that what's the story about without giving a chance to read it first. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
I don't know what to say on the handful of commenters claiming "Joel/ chase are raping" those might be trolls that should just be ignored. Not made a big deal out of. Most of the commenters have just said they don't like the pairing because of they don't like the idea of a middle age man and high school student pairing. I think that's a legitimate reason. It's no big deal for them to say that.
If people are going to stop reading because a commenter said "I don't like the Joel and Chase" ship then they probably didn't really care to read it in the first place. So it's a big deal to you if others choose not to read the comic because of an opinion from a commenter? I don't think you should take their opinions that seriously.
And I do agree with your point that people shouldn't take a comic so seriously that they can't have fun with anything. Of course, the Joel/ Chase stuff shouldn't ruin things for Jesse/ Andy fans. Well, it wouldn't for me if the author didn't shove in so much obvious joel/ chase filler to keep spreading out the Jesse/ Andy stuff. (I mean c'mon. Naruto the comic has less filler than this).
I mean if random comments are bringing readers down so much, I think they shouldn't take other people's opinions so seriously. It's almost arguing, "Don't take the story seriously, but do take the comments seriously".
Now if the comment section is getting flooded by trolls, that's different. Those are just designed to upset people and different from someone expressing their opinion of elements of the story.
Seeing negative opinions shouldn't affect your opinion of the story. If it does, that's on the reader.
Again you are assuming too much on what I feel, seriously all I'm just saying is not to make the fiction seems that is actually happening in real, they're the one who giving themselves a hard time. Also, how can it be a troll? when they are arguing about it, and we were also giving them our opinion. It's like you're the one saying that to just listen to their opinion, but for us who gives an opinion you think of it in some kind of way. to make it simple to understand (You watching a good movie and enjoying it but there's people around you whispering and saying about stuff to the movie and judging it right away, when is not even done. What do you think will make you feel? irritated, like come on just watch and enjoy the movie before you say stuff if you can't handle it and make you feel uncomfortable then why do you keep watching. Don't spoil the others who are watching and actually enjoying the movie.) Also personal stuff or private things should be keep to yourselves and talk it out to people who you trust not here. That's why I said don't take this fiction seriously, it's that even hard to understand?
Also, before you keep assuming on what we feel don't push it like how you think what we feel or think. We only simply saying to not take the things that is happening in fiction in real. I don't know why you like one of those people taking our opinion in some kind of different level. But seriously I don't care but the only thing I care is to have fun and don't make other spoil those who enjoys reading it like myself ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
My issue is and has always been that commenters have the right to say "I don't like the Joel/ Chase ship". And if their reason is because of the age gap, that's fine to for them to share. It's their honest opinion.
Others trying to say "Stop taking fictional characters so seriously" is just a passive way of trying to shut down an opinion they don't like. They're not arguing against their criticism. They're just saying it's wrong for them even to have that opinion.
That's a dishonest tactic that I don't like pro-Joe/ Chase commenters doing. It's a very dishonest and unfair way to go after opinions they don't like that way. If they just said, "Well, I don't agree. I like the pairing" or "I don't mind the age gap".
That's fine. That's just saying they disagree.
But "stop taking fictional characters seriously" is just one side trying to shame the other into silence because they can't stand seeing their opinion.
I think talking about the story and other people giving their own honest feedback is fun. I don't think that is taking it too seriously. I think it's okay for commenters to be honest and say "the age gap pairing is not for me". That's how they feel.
There is no need to get upset at them for that. It's not spoiling the story at all to me. It's making it more interesting by providing a fun discussion.
(You watching a good movie and enjoying it but there's people around you whispering and saying about stuff to the movie and judging it right away, when is not even done. What do you think will make you feel? irritated, like come on just watch and enjoy the movie before you say stuff if you can't handle it and make you feel uncomfortable then why do you keep watching. Don't spoil the others who are watching and actually enjoying the movie.)
Well, I'd feel annoyed if you're implying they talked DURING the movie. Hell yeah that's rude. It's not their opinion, but talking aloud in a theatre is bad manners.
But if they posted an opinion online somewhere about an ongoing book series or a TV show in progress, I have no problem with that. Yes, it's not complete, but part of the fun is the discussion and speculation. And if I went out to a forum, read their reviews, and then got upset at the negative ones, that's really my personal issue.
As for the private things, that's up to the commenter's personal choice. We have no right to tell other commenters what opinions they can and can't give. I am not telling you not to say your opinion. I'm just saying what I think of those opinions and why I disagree with the "don't take this fiction seriously" tactic.
I really wouldn't take the other commenters negative opinions so seriously. Just scroll by it. You don't have to read them. Like me, you chose to read them. And if you strongly disagree, then say something. That's what I do.
Okay, I understand and I have enjoyed discussing this with you. I haven't changed my mind on my feelings about the Joel/ Chase pair.
But I understand it's easy for things to get personal fast. And there are definitely a lot who go overboard. Some want to say "But in real life this wouldn't be acceptable" as a way to say Yaoi should be censored or banned. Those definitely need to calm down.
Those need to follow the "don't like it, don't read it" rule. But I think most are just saying I don't like this pairing, but I love this one.
Most authors split the side pairing into a separate story which avoids a lot of this problem. I haven't read many stories where the main pairing (the one on the cover) gets this left out of the story as it goes along. I think that's the biggest frustration. Joel and chase's story don't really mesh that well with Jesse and Andy. The author could have just given us a 90% Jesse/ Andy story and then done a 90% Joel/ Chase story. Then both fanbases wouldn't end up clashing so much. The Joel/ Chase crowd would have a place to love their pairing and the Jesse/ Andy crowd would have a place for theirs. Most yaoi stories actually do it that way. They put the pairings in their own stories with a little overlap here and there.
I strongly suspect the author is either not confident that the Joel/ Chase pairing will stand on its own merits or they just have a very poor editor.
Same I enjoy exchange our different points of view or opinion (▰˘◡˘▰) and yeah in yaoi it's pretty common those kind of things. I only said it the "why keep reading?" because it's just that there are people who says they don't like how the author do this and that, well it's the author's story and we as a reader can't tell to the author what should he/she should write that's their own story to tell. Also, for the side pairing I guess it's because people have a lot of preferences to shipping and there are also who can't agree with it, but that's just how the author wants sometimes author's they don't write for readers they write for themselves to freely express their imagination. So, basically they just share their works and it's up to the readers to like it whether or not. (=・ω・=)
This people who keeps saying about Joel and Chase relationship don't know how to have fun in life for taking things seriously, when the story are obviously a fiction lmao ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
