But if Elise and Mil are cousins, so are Elise and the prince. I know her dad and the head of the Romanoff family look a lot alike.

Okay, just be clear, Elise's father and the head of the Romanoff faction do look a lot alike. I got them confused a lot too. But they have different statuses and I believe different eye colors. The young man that Elise and Mil worked on during the war is Mil's cousin and the some of the head of the Romanoff's. Mils mother is that man's sister and both Mil's mother and uncle conspired to eliminate the crown prince's mother and sister. So the crown prince hates both Mil's mother and uncle, but actually cares about Mil and his two cousins. Because of this the crown prince is trying to become king so that he take his revenge on them. At the same time, Mil is trying to become king to save his mother and uncle, despite knowing the wrong they caused, because he loves them. Are you confused enough yet? So, no, Elise and Mil are not related, at least not by blood, they maybe soon by marriage though.
