Yeah, I gotta agree with you there. Soji should’ve said “hi I’m actually your long-lost childhood friend” to Makoto and everything would’ve been fine. But no.
Then Makoto gets raped over and over again, thinking this Soji guy is a stranger. HE. SAYS. NO. EVERY. TIME. and the first time, Assoji obviously heard him, BUT KEPT FUCKING GOING.
This easily could’ve been a lot better if Soji had been up front about his identity. It’s not Makoto’s fault he didn’t recognize you, people’s faces change a lot in a 10-year time span. And you were using a different name. How did you expect him to recognize you?!?!

Yeah, no depth and flat characters. This usually can be fine with smut, but its clear the author tried to incorporate story (with a whopping 24 chapters); the premise is done well enough, but the characters ruin it.
Also to make it worse, Naito (jealous friend) and Soji (Seme) are basically the same type of trash, except Soji actually gets away with abusing and raping the Uke. In fact, I'd even say Soji's worse on that scale, as at least Naito did his best to fucking restrain himself for years in fear of violating the Uke. It's really annoying, because the Seme (the full on rapist) gets both a pass and an APOLOGY from the Uke, whereas Naito is treated like scum. Don't get me wrong here either, they are both trash; treat them the fucking same.
