A Mom's view...

As a mom... the greatest fear I have is not my kids being LGBT, but rather how people will treat them for being LGBT. I'll support them in whatever decision they make, as long as it doesn't endanger them - but decisions about who they are or who their partner is is up to them. I fear for their safety with so many hate crimes against the LGBT+ community. I fear that they won't be promoted or reap rewards, that they'll be bullied for simply being gay/lesbian. These are things I can't shield my kids from. I can only nurture them to get stronger, to be by their side during their pain, heartbreak and be glad in their happiness. I get where the mom is coming from, but she needs to prioritize her son over her own emotions and prejudice.

I am a mother as well and I share the same fear as you. I can only protect them so far and heck, there might be family members that I might have to protect them from. The world is changing but not fast enough.
