In the old days some kids got married as young as thirteen, some province in Japan's legal age to consent to sex is at 13. He is not that much older from her, 17 if I remember correctly (though don't count on me).
His behavior is not exactly, but he lived in the house that killed or be killed as norm, you can't expect him to be normal. :)

She’s definitely not 11. The thing is, judging from her height, and the real Ran saying based off of appearance she should have experienced her period much earlier, I’d say she’s more like 15~17. My best friend got hers at 16, and so did many other girls that I went to school with. Plus, speaking from experience, most Japanese kids are really small until they reach about 13. In the U.S, due to my height I was always seen as a lot younger until around high school, whereas in Japan everyone could more or less guess my age correctly -give or take a year. Her height for a 11~13 year old is just really tall. Also, Masato is a “student” but it doesn’t specify what age. As college students back then wore identical uniforms to that of high schoolers.
Based on the fact that she just got her period, she could be anywhere between 11 and 16 which is much too young for all that going on. Not to mention the fact that the ML gives off very abusive, creepy vibes (burning her house down and making her watch, basically grooming her and touching her when she's asleep)
I really like the story and I really like her character but I hope they hold off on the romance until she's much older and wiser. Lol, I'd say I hope she ends up with the cute, nice guy that's close to her age (even though he forced a kiss on her too - I'm starting to see a pattern in this story, actually) but I've read enough of these stories to know that's never going to happen.
Romance aside, I'd love to read more of the plot development too.
Also that Akira twin girl gives me the heebiejeebies.
