I actually believe the authors intention was to show that he realized he might actually like dongho emotionally and since he is a "player" he doesn't want to dirty dongho. I think he wants to hold back because he doesnt want dongho to think he is just using him (although he should've explained that instead of giving half ass excuses and leaving dingo hanging that was pretty much a dick move
I believe that too but the situation is just so... Awkward? Horrible? At least Donghi doesn't seem to take it badly, but being left like that when the other party clearly showed you beforehand that they wanted to do a lot can be quite damaging for your ego
