Many people die there like that heath guy from accidents and monsters and when he was given the tools to survive he chose to turn it off like a "blissfully satisfied man looking in to the open smouldering like a moron".
The author just threw all these characters on our faces but didn't even make a plot in doing so he made it look like a slice of life. You have to make a plot in these genres or it will be boring as hell. Usually its Plot first then introduce characters then character building during the story.
The art which always focuses on his blissful face reminds of the manga Natsume Youchinjou where you can feel sleepy with its atmosphere.
Nothing at stake, no consequences, no goals, just the usual panty soaker isekai and his THICC plot armor.
