I don't know if betaxbeta is necessary cuz betas don't have heat cycle, pheromones, can't become pregnant or reproduce offsprings (unless the author wishes otherwise),, they're just normal human male, so it's only logical that beraxbeta can't usually be the core couple of an omegaverse sub-genre.. if they don't fulfill any of the omegaverse criteria (pregnancy, pheromones etc.), They're no different than any other BL manga..
*cough cough* yeah, it would be different only because it would be a regular bl couple in omegaverse. like, it could be a novelty work or something. that's sort of what i want to see though XD
however, I can think of so many possibilities for new and unique works with this premise... there's gotta be something out there...
A beta/beta story where they've been a couple (built from mutual trust and love, none of that fated/mates biting stuff) for a very long time. Meanwhile their alpha and omega friends are going on about pheromones, problems, and shit.
At some point the boredom in their sex life made them decide to roleplay an alpha/omega in bed and would switch from time to time because they've got the luxury to do that. I wonder if it's even appropriate to roleplay as an alpha or omega in their world lol but I guess that's just a thing you can do at the privacy of your sex life.
