You didn't even bother to say bye? Or explain at all?! He wouldn't gave liked it but he can't make you stay! You already had your letter and a very good reason to leave! You could gave said bye and stayed in contact, jeez.
I can understand wanting a clean exit but this the worst way to leave him. You don't have to stay in contact but she should have said goodbye
